Directions

When traveling by airplane:

The Ljubljana airport (Letališče Jožeta Pučnika) lies 23 km outside of Ljubljana and is located near a town called Brnik. The national carrier is Adria Airways. There is a regular bus connection to the Ljubljana main bus station (once per hour, the last bus at 8 p.m.). The tickets are about 6 €. Several shuttle services are also available, they tend to charge about 9 € to JSI. Taxis are also available and the rides range between 25 – 50 €. There is an exchange office at the airport, the opening hours are from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

When traveling by train:

The railway station is situated in the centre of the town. You can get from there to Jožef Stefan Institute by taxi (it costs about 5 €) or by local buses (see below). To get train information you can call:

There is an exchange office at the Railway station, the opening hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

When traveling by bus

Long-distance buses stop at the central bus station that is situated in the middle of the town in front of the Railway station. To get bus information you can call:

You can get from there to Jožef Stefan Institute by taxi (it costs about 5 €) or by local buses (see below).

Using local buses

In Ljubljana the local transportation is performed by busses (Ljubljanski Potniški Promet). The fee can be paid only with smart cards called Urbana which can be bought at the selling points of City Public Transport and in tobacco shops.

City bus lines 1 and 6 stop near the JSI:

  • For bus line 1 (Vižmarje – Mestni Log) get off at the stop Jadranska, which is directly in front of the entrance to JSI.
  • For bus line 6 (Črnuče – Dolgi most) get off at the stop Stan in dom. JSI is approximately 200 m along the Jadranska ulica.
