Simulation without forced topical cooling
During an open heart surgery without forced topical cooling the
initial temperature of the cooling liquid is 0.2oC, but it
is later during the surgery influenced by surrounding tissues. In
this case the cooling of the heart is much less effective than with forced topical cooling.
The initial temperatures were the following:
the chest tissue |
28.0oC |
the heart tissue |
11.0oC |
blood |
11.0oC |
the cooling liquid |
0.2oC |
the surrounding air |
20.0oC |
The following animation shows the heat transfer of 40 simulated
minutes:
